An inexpensive way to create drama and totally transform your living space is to use a bold accent color. You can pack tons of style into any room with just a splash of color. Here are a few tips to remember when adding a dark or bold color to a space:
- You can see from the images below that the darker colors work well when paired with neutral and light textiles and finishes. Adding too many bold and contrasting colors can make a space feel like there is too much going on and prevents it from making sense. Keep it simple.
- Make sure that you have adequate lighting in the room you plan on using accent paint in when using a very dark color. Dimmable lighting is always a great option.
- If you are going to add a bright or bold color, really go for it with the rest of the décor and don’t hold back! The image with the salmon pink wall is paired with a bright green chair and some coordinating vibrant patterned art. As you can see, the desk is still a light neutral wood, which keeps the space from becoming overly busy.
